Plant Propagation
Common methods of plant propagation include layering, budding, grafting, division and cuttings.
My favourite technique is the use of cuttings.
Step 1. Sever a piece of the chosen plant 2-3 inches from
the tip, this is described as a soft wood cutting, not hard or too soft
Step 2. With a small, sharp knife lightly scrape the top
layer of the cutting, until the exposed stem is green. If you see white you
have gone too deep and the cutting may dehydrate
Step 3. Dip the cut edge into rooting powder or hormone,
gently shaking off excess powder
Step 4. Fill a container (with drainage holes) with soil or
promix (3-4 inches) and water thoroughly
Step 5. Make a small hole in the soil, insert the cutting,
secure by gently pressing the soil and moisten daily with water using a spray
bottle.
In six-eight weeks roots will appear!
