The Perfect Soil
Soil is the top layer of earthly material which contains inorganic particles and organic matter and provides the structural support for most plants.
There are many different types of soil but the common
agricultural ones are sandy, clay, silt, peat, chalk and loamy. Crumbly and
loamy soil is most suitable for vegetables and household horticultural plants.
Soil should contain microbes, earthworms for aeration, and
compost which can be derived from a mixture of vegetable peels, rotting
leaves, aged bark material and decomposed manure.
When mixing your soil, please ensure that it is not heavy or
compacted. You can use your hands to lift and break up clumps to ensure it is
crumbly. The addition of Promix loosens the soil and aids in aeration and
drainage as excessive water can cause root rot. Alternatively, the lack of
water will cause dehydration and negatively affect flower and vegetable yield.
